Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) provides students with opportunities to enhance their own and others’ health, safety, wellbeing and participation in physical activity. Students develop self-management, interpersonal and movement skills to become empowered, self-confident and socially responsible citizens.
Content in PDHPE is arranged into three strands:
- Health, Wellbeing and Relationships
- Movement Skill and Performance
- Healthy, Safe and Active Lifestyles
PDHPE Skill Domains explored include:
- Self-management Skills
- Interpersonal Skills
- Movement Skills
These skills are important for children and young people to live healthy, safe and active lives.
Other aspects of the program include Friendship Groups, our Peer Support program, and social skills programs as per needs identified in each class.
Physical education is fundamental to the acquisition of movement skills and concepts. It enables students to participate in a range of physical activities – confidently, competently and creatively.
We have a specialist PE teacher who teaches each class for a sport lesson once a week as well as organising our major Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics carnivals. Students are able to progress to Cluster, Diocesan and State levels of competition in a range of sports.
We regularly engage the expertise of sporting groups including Cricket Australia, Netball Association, Touch Football Australia and Hockey NSW and others to provide specialist skill sessions to our students. Corpus Christi students also participate in a range of interschool gala days over the course of the year.
